In summer of 2003 Mourning Icarus was dawned. Matt and AJ both wanted to start a serious band. AJ, Dan and Eric were all in a previous band called My Favorite Villain but broke up because of mutual differences. Matt brought Brian from his old band Post Mortem. All five decided to jam and cover a Foo Fighters song. The group instantly loved it and created a band. Names were a hassle because everyone wanted something different. Finally upon ready the story of Icarus Matt gave the name Fall of Icarus. That name was already taken so Mourning Icarus was composed.
